Wednesday vignettes

I have to catch up on posts, but wasn't sure where to start... With the reminder from Allison to just share inspiration, here are some of the things from this weekend that made me very happy about where the garden is this year...
Orange for the first time!

The yellow and blue sky!

The pine trees are really growing now

So glad I didn't pull this "weed"!

... the Palo Verde still needs trimming, but it looks too good right now.

Even if it's mulching everything in yellow

Always a standout flower
I will have to get organized, if for no other reason than the heat is setting in, and soon blogging from the air conditioned inside will be much better than gardening outside.

  1. Glowing yellow mulch, blue sky, cactus flowers, volunteer Calliandra--beautiful, and indeed inspiring!

  2. Oh yes, cactus flowers are very inspiring -- something so big and beautiful coming from a prickly cactus pad. And a volunteer Calliandra -- one shrub I wish I could grow here.

    1. If it makes you feel better Allison - i've killed this plant twice, and i thought this was a Albizia julibrissin seedling before it bloomed... Maybe it would grow in your greenhouse?

  5. Things are looking quite fabulous, and I’m jealous of your orange Opuntia flower. My first one this year, a new plant, bloomed pink. Ugh.

  7. What the above all said! And - which species is the orange-flowered Opuntia you have?

    1. I'm pretty sure it's opuntia littoralis var austrocalifornica, because of the orange color. This is the first time it bloomed (and my first orange one ever!)
